Breathe ~ Relax ~ Drink Black Tea Often
Buddha’s kitchen spot
reminds me of energy
from other places
The prettiest leaves
of the pink polka-dot plant
Running wild for us
Whoever was lost
is lost from its poster, too
Perhaps safely home
Butterfly light bulb
Transparently confident
of night-time success
Barking overtime
marks renovation season
Streets cluttered with noise
Crystal labyrinth
One way in and one way out
Thoughts arise and fade
Instead of headstones
some graves offer bright flowers
It’s accidental
The garden’s fishbones
are described as weeds by some
Weeds can be lovely
Kayakers paddling
are heavy birds with stick wings
Flightless but waving
Gardens are blooming
Applause for Springtime favours
The monsoon queues up
Papery petals
Colourfast in sun and rain
A delicate strength
An Eastern Dragon
As still as its basking rock
Anticipates warmth
A heron pausing
on Saturday afternoon
Contemplates dinner
The oldest supports
taped and brittle, needing paint
Working for nothing
Asian house gecko
stops on its way to dinner
A light filled menu
Carpets of blossoms
soft and settling underfoot
Perfect for moments
Wind-blown argument
from the same house and couple
Fresh air for stale words
Scissors in the grass
Forgotten in the moment
The next thing uncut
Waiting on cupcakes
Time stretches and then stands still
Obliging oven
Umbrella mushrooms
protect the rain-wary ant
who loves mushroom soup
On the gecko’s list
a moth or two before bed
And then, moth dreaming
In the micro world
lives lost and found each moment
An ant’s breath and mine
Early this morning
I found the grass mower and
thanked her for the scent
On the mossy side
shaded creatures on low walls
Never high and dry
The weekend’s delight
A wine bottle dropped and left
Tidily shattered
A backyard landscape
should always have its own cat
Investigating
Shuffling from behind
overtakes and shuffles on
We own our rhythms
Meditation room
invites the breath to visit
Coming and going
Winter’s last cold throes
expose us to western fronts
But we’ve trained for months
In the search for light
flowers strain from their dark roots
Grasp exceeding reach
